Company Overview

The principals and employees of Power Consulting Associates have extensive experience in Transmission and Distribution Line Design, Substation Design, Construction Management, and Construction Inspection of Transmission Line and Substation Projects. Our personnel are experienced and are able to apply their experience to assure that their assigned projects are completed safely, on schedule and within budget. From environmental assessments and route selection through design, construction and inspections, Power Consulting Asssociates, LLC has exceptional capabilities to successfully complete both underground and overhead transmission projects. Since 2005, our staff's project experience has varied from 4 kV through 500 kV and has utilized a wide range of design and construction approaches. PCA staff has the ability to determine and evaluate transmission line corridors and establish a final route within the chosen corridor. After a route is selected, our engineers have the depth of experience and qualifications to perform conceptual, preliminary, and final designs.

Leadership

Mr. Grooms is a Principal of Power Consulting Associates, LLC. He oversees design engineers, technicians, and survey for line voltages ranging from 4 kV to 500 kV. Mr. Grooms also has experience with identifying line routes and selection processes, cost benefit analyses, procuring ROW permits, foundation design, construction drawings, Trimble survey equipment, developing specifications, and contract administration and material acquisition. Mr. Grooms graduated from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, with a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in nine states.

Mr. Kemp is a Principal of Power Consulting Associates, LLC. He oversees construction management teams for large transmission projects and transmission line design for voltages from 4 kV to 500 kV. Mr Kemp also has experience with identifying line routes, selection processes, procuring ROW permits, property owner negotiations, foundation rehabilitation programs, construction drawings, specifications, and contract administration and materiel aquisition. Mr. Kemp graduated from the University of Illinois, Urbana, with a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in four states.

Ms. Parkes is the Manager of Engineering for Power Consulting Associates, LLC. She oversees the company's transmission line design and civil and environmental projects. Ms. Parkes also has experience in substation design, foundation design, inspection services, and the development of various environmental documents. She is experienced in utilizing PLS-CADD®, AutoCAD®, and Autodesk Land Development® software and is a licensed professional engineer in fourteen states. Having already received her B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from Tennessee Technological University, Ms. Parkes is currently pursuing a Masters of Engineering in Construction Management at Vanderbilt University.
